He was predeceased by his wife of 74 years, Anna Heidinger; his parents, Martha and John Heidinger; and his parents-in-law, John and Agatha Heck; his three brothers Clarence, Ruben and Edwin; three sisters, Viola Seitz, Alice Kurpjuweit, Pearl Kirk along with sisters-in-law Mandy Hunt, Clara Heidinger, Ann Heck, Agnes Heck, and brothers-in-law Ed Seitz, Art Kurpjuweit, Joe, Jack, Phillip, Dan and Frank Heck, Kasper Aberle, and grandson-in-law, Dallas Daniels.
Joe was born on September 29, 1922 and raised on a farm around Gros Ventre, AB. He worked at the Dominion Glass Factory in Redcliff, AB for over 40 years. He was known for lending a hand to family and friends when asked; he loved making friends wherever he went and always found a way to be distantly related to them. He was handy in repairing appliances, making jewelry boxes, dog houses, macraméing clothes hangers by the dozens and vacationing, first in a tent, then trailer and later, travelling the world. He especially enjoyed listening to Tiger’s Hockey on his radio and he never missed his children’s or grandchildren’s events, sporting or otherwise. He loved the Lord and was often heard praying for each of his children and their spouse and his grandchildren by name.
A private family Graveside Funeral Service took place on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the Medicine Hat Hillside Cemetery with Rev. Lance Duncalfe Officiating.
