    FRETZ, Rev. Glenn Allan

    September 19, 2023

Rev. FRETZ, Glenn Allan (Ordained Minister)

    1945 – 2023

Glenn Allan Fretz, beloved husband of Shirley Fretz, passed peacefully into the Lord’s presence at the Red Deer Hospice on September 14, 2023 at the age of 78. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, his son Doug (Angie) Fretz and daughter Val (Colin) Baron, as well as three grandsons, Graham, Nolan and Tyson. Glenn was predeceased by his brothers Doug, Murray, Harvey, Art and his sisters, Jean and Chris.

Born in 1945 in Vineland, Ontario, Glenn grew up with life on the farm where he learned that hard work will bring you more in life than anything else. After completing high school, Glenn pursued a four-year degree at Emmanuel Bible College. It was during this time that he met, and married, his cherished Shirley.

Their faithful ministry together included serving the Lord at Wilmot Centre Missionary Church, Barry Moore Ministries, Community Bible Church, Oriole Park Missionary Church, International Needs and Chilliwack Evangelical Missionary Church.

Glenn’s time in ministry can be characterized by a passion for people and a dedicated work ethic. He will be remembered for loving his family and grand-puppies, his practical life-changing sermons, encouraging and supporting others in their faith, and meeting people where they were, whether in the cow barn, on the street or in the church pew.

The family would like to thank the nurses and healthcare aides at Red Deer Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion while Glenn was in his final days. Memorial donations may be made directly to Red Deer Hospice Society or online at reddeerhospice.com

A Memorial Service will be held at CrossRoads Church (38105 Range Road 275, Red Deer County, AB) on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 11am. Reception to follow at the church.
