  • Centre Street Church in Calgary, AB is looking for a Chef.

    Full-time Position

    (40 hours/week, weekend and evening work required)

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Preparing menu plans and sourcing ingredients.
    • Ordering supplies and ensuring safe and proper storage of all food products.
    • Ensuring good stewardship of financial resources provided to the Café.
    • Training staff and volunteers.
    • Connecting with potential volunteers and processing their applications.
    • Scheduling staff and volunteers.
    • Ensuring all food preparation and serving areas are properly cleaned and sanitized, and meet all public health requirements.
    • Overseeing staff and volunteers to ensure a safe work environment.
    • Maintaining and troubleshooting food service equipment.
    • Building productive and supportive working relationships with volunteers, staff and vendors.


    • 5 years’ experience as a chef/cook in a commercial/restaurant environment with experience supervising kitchen staff.
    • Demonstrated experience in menu planning, sourcing and ordering.
    • Demonstrated ability to attract, empower, develop, and retain staff and volunteers.
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office with above-average excel skills.
    • Understanding of public health and occupational health & safety regulations.
    • Understand, support and live out CSC’s membership covenant and statement of faith.
    • Role model to others of what is means to be a fully devoted follower of Christ.
    • Willingness to commit to and uphold CSC’s Human Resources Policies, Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Job Performance Expectations, Staff Values Based Behaviours, Lifestyle Agreement and Staff Expectations.
