Kucha is a rural area almost 400 kms south of the capital of Addis Ababa. People in the region are suffering under the worst drought in fifty years. These are proud, hard working people who fight every year to raise enough crops to survive the next year. 2015 was not a good crop year and 2016 proved to be much worse. In partnership with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) we have a “Food for Work” project underway which allows people to work in environmental rehabilitation in their own area and receive a food supply for their family based on the hours they work. They maintain a sense of worth and value while receiving life-sustaining food for their families. Working with CFGB we receive a 4 to 1 match on our giving. For every dollar you give we can supply these people with five dollars worth of food. Food distribution is handled by our partner, the Ethiopia Kale Heywit Church, who deliver the food with a message of hope, shining light on the Saviour they serve.
