We invite individuals and churches to contribute what they can to a larger collective response to those impacted by war and conflict, climate crises, and other disasters.

Support Refugees

For EMCC Churches:

Church groups have the opportunity to walk in step with displaced persons as they resettle into local Canadian communities. Assisting one family can have an impact for years to come, not only on those who have been sponsored and those who sponsor, but also the whole community and future generations.

EMCC and World Partners do not sponsor refugees directly, but assist our churches in their support of refugees and New Canadians.

Churches interested in sponsoring should follow the path of a Community Sponsor application with the Canadian government. Find out more here.

However, the government has put a pause on Community Sponsor applications until December 31, 2026. We have no other avenue available at this time.

If You are a Refugee:

EMCC World Partners is denomination office and we do not sponsor directly. The local church is the place to start looking for sponsorship. We will not forward your information on to them, nor do we have a list of churches looking for refugees to sponsor.

Keep in mind that the government likes to resettle refugees in the same area as other family members. If you have family in Canada, we encourage you to reach out to organizations and churches in their community.

Over the last few years we've brought you stories of lives changed through refugee sponsorship, both newcomers and sponsors alike. We've also provided stories from the EMCC family who are building lasting friendships with newly arrived neighbours. We again want to bring you a couple of stories this year. We hope they inspire you to get to know someone new in your neighbourhood this year.
