EMCC Practice and Perspective on Women in Leadership

The EMCC acknowledges that there are differing perspectives based on biblical interpretation. We make room for these perspectives with mutual respect and a desire for unity around Christ and His mission. Differences in perspective do not mean dissociation.

We acknowledge that each congregation must work this out in its own community. It is the EMCC practice and policy to licence and ordain both men and women. EMCC leadership affirms that God calls both women and men to serve the church in all ministry and leadership capacities and affirms that the fulfillment of the Great Commission will be best realized when men and women work alongside each other, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

This paper seeks to provide background and theological reflections for our practice of licencing and ordaining women.
