Friday Pre-Gathering Workshops (12:30-4:30 PM). This is a $30.00 add-on feature to the Regional Gathering Package
The workshops are designed to take you deep into a mind, heart and skill-set needed in order to rise into your Kingdom potential. You will be asked to choose one of the following workshops when you register online:
1. Becoming a Disciple-Making Church: Walking the path-WAY of Jesus! Presenters: Claran Martin and Lynn Dietz
What a privilege it is to be invited into relationship with Jesus in order to join Him in making disciplers who make disciplers. (Cf. Matt. 28). This workshop will give an overview of what we believe are seven key DNA traits of a follower of Jesus. The Way of Jesus sayings provide a simple language to describe our journey with Jesus. They are simple, memorable, transferable, and most of all, practical to live out in everyday life. Plus, you will experience a simple format for a disciple-making group that is designed to result in life transformation and multiplication.
2. Lead Like a Transformational Leader: Be, Know, Do! Presenter: Ruth Esau
(Please note that the Ontario version of this workshop is now full and is not taking additional participants.)
In my work with Executives and Leaders, the inability to think strategically and make clear and effective decisions and progress forward is a common theme. It is expected of you and yet rarely are you adequately equipped for it.
You will leave this biblical based workshop knowing:
Come prepared for engaging conversation and practical outcomes that will deepen who you are as a leader for this time and season.
3. Increasing Our Cultural Intelligence: Why it matters NOW! Presenter: Mark Anderson
4. Theological Roots Spawn Healthy Global Mission Involvement: Joel Zantingh and Nicole Jones
It feels great to meet needs, and to bless others, and there is a steady barrage of requests presented to us. The first thing to do is stop.
Global Mission Involvement is important, beautiful, and full of challenges. As a community of Jesus’ followers, we often have to resist the temptation to address the needs we see, pause, and address the foundational questions.
This workshop will be a chance to talk about a practical theology for our global mission involvement.
There will be discussion, brainstorming, and lots of interaction. You will leave with ideas for how you and your community can strengthen your healthy global mission engagement.
5. Pull Up a Chair: Becoming a Board that Leads Well! Presenter: John Cressman
This workshop is designed to take the ‘bored’ out of church “board” work and add spiritual discernment, purposeful conversation, better preparation, stronger relationship between board and pastor, vital communication with congregation, thoughtful board member succession and so much more. Join us for some peer-learning as we navigate governing our congregations through these challenging days. During the workshop, you will have opportunity to do some personal and board evaluation. You will receive some valuable resources and tools to take back to your next board meeting to stimulate your church board’s development.
6. Walking Well Together: Reframing Our Relationship with Indigenous People: Alison Lefebvre
Facilitated by Alison Lefebvre and Shari Russell, Indigenous Ministries Consultant for the Salvation Army and member of the board of directors for Indigenous Pathways. Come prepared to participate in the Kairos Blanket Exercise, a teaching tool which shares the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and non-indigenous Canadians. We will consider our role in the process of reconciliation and the hope that lies ahead.
