In early April the EMCC Board of Governors met in Toronto to address various board business items. As part of our time together, we spent an evening with a number of EMCC pastors and church members at the Mississauga Christian Family Worship Centre. Pastor Mano's gracious hospitality allowed us to connect as fellow members of the EMCC, hear each other's stories as followers of Jesus, and spend time in prayer.
A significant part of our agenda as a board was to reflect on where we are at as a Canadian denomination. Those reflections fostered a spirit of gratefulness for what the EMCC national team has accomplished in twelve years under the leadership of President Phil Delsaut. It is certainly a story of God leading us forward as a disciple making movement.
As Phil's presidential term comes to an end in 2017 we are searching for a new president that can build on the sacrifices and strategic thinking implemented by Phil and his team. The board has given the Presidential Search Committee a number of key items to guide in the search including:
- A clear presidential job profile
- An affirmation of The Way of Jesus as a part of future strategic planning
- An identification of the skills, experiences and character we are seeking
- Key strategic steps the new president needs to pursue quickly
- Clarifying and refining the presidential search process/timeline
The Presidential Search Committee intends to have a package available for prospective candidates in early June and will present the candidate to the EMCC constituency in late March, 2017. The presidential vote will happen at General Assembly 2017 in Calgary. Information will be available on the EMCC website
. People can also contact the Search Committee Chair, Jordan Polson, for more information at 403-347-6425 ext.503 or JordanP@crossroadschurch.ca
The National Board encourages you to join us in praying through the presidential search process as we seek the person God has to lead us into the future. We believe this process can draw us together as a Canadian denomination that is seeking to impact our friends, families and communities for Christ.
