KWAN, Wong Choi Har (mother of former EMCC Pastor Enoch Kwan)

Passed away at the age of 97 on the morning of March 16, in her sleep in Dogwood Lodge, Vancouver. She joins with her husband, Kwan Hoi Kung, who went to be with the Lord twenty years ago at the age of 86.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Dorothy Chan, Eugene Kwan, Johnny Kwan, Enoch Kwan*, John Kwan and Becky Kwan; nine grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. We are comforted and thank God for granting her the wish of passing into God’s hand without a painful sickness. God also granted her another wish that one of her sons be called and to be used in pastoral ministry. (Pastor Enoch Kwan was pastor at St. Clair Evangelical Missionary Church in Toronto between 2003 and 2012.
Mrs. Kwan experienced being a temporary refugee in the Sino-Japanese War in China. Soon after the war, she was saved through believing the Gospel preached to her and continued to be a model of faith, trusting and obedience to the Lord for her children. She relied on the joy of the Lord to be her strength.
Mr. & Mrs. Kwan opened their home factory to many young people from their church in the 1970s. In fact, the church’s Sunday school ran a class at their home factory and was like a youth center during weekdays. Their home factory’s name GeeRick means The Lord’s Might, a name Mr. Kwan chose to witness God’s presence among them, and a legacy they both left for their children.
She is now joining up with many of her good friends who have gone before her. The family misses her on this side of heaven and looks forward to the day of reunion with her.
Funeral arrangements have been made with Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC. Visitation will be open to the public on March 28th from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. A service will be held on March 29th at 8:30 am. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only part of the immediate family may attend the service on March 29th, however, online viewing will be available here. A separate memorial service will be held online via Zoom on April 2nd at 9:00 pm EDT.
