    KELLSEY, Garry

    October 19, 2021

KELLSEY, Garry (Father-in-Law of Rev. Charlie Bowen, EMCC Ordained Minister)

On the 10th of October, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Friend, Garland Keith Kellsey, or Garry, as everyone knew him, was welcomed into the arms of His God and Father. Garry leaves behind his dear wife of 61 years, “Betty”, his children, Darlene (Charlie*), Ray (Diane), Lavern (Deanna), and Janet (John); his grandchildren, Mitchell (Jolene), Travis (Kari), Cassandra, Christa, Kelsie (Lance), Luke (Sophia), Andy (Sandy), Jackie, Jason (Lidia), Randy, Ryan (Leah), 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne (Bonnie), sister-in-law, Alvina; brothers-in-law, Maurice, Dallas (Dickie), and Connie (Dave) Espenant, Jesse (MacKenna), Jordyn.

Garry passed from this life to the next suffering a heart attack at the family home. Garry recently celebrated his 81stbirthday at the Kellsey Farm near Carstairs, Alberta, where he was raised by his parents, Stanley and Irma Kellsey, alongside his brothers, Ron, Del, and Wayne.

Garry was a Godly and Faithful part of the Christian community as a member of both the Evangelical Missionary Church and later the Carstairs Church of God. He was a strong Christian who lived what he believed and one of his greatest joys was knowing his family were all Christians as well.

Another of his passions was mission work. He frequently travelled with Betty to East Africa to work with the Church of God on-site, teaching agricultural techniques, building churches, preaching, teaching, and providing support. He was a blessing to many countries in East Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, and Oceania.

Garry was generous and magnanimous in his blessing of others in the community with work opportunities and help when help was needed. Garry was a gifted leader. He led Kings Kattle for many years helping to provide finances for the local Bible College and the many students being trained for ministry. He was also involved in the community of Carstairs.

A memorial service was held for Garry on October 16th and can be viewed here.
