Super Typhoon Haiyan, one of the most powerful recorded typhoons to ever hit land, crashed through the central Philippines on Friday, November 8th, with devastating effect. Approximately 11.3 million people are reportedly affected. Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said "we pray that the death toll is less than 10,000." At least a quarter of a million people have been left in a very vulnerable state. Food, water and shelter are in short supply.
EMCC is receiving donations toward the relief effort in the
Philippines. All donations will be directed toward the victims of this terrible disaster. The Canadian government has promised to match any donations made by Canadians to this effort by December 8th. We will be working with proven evangelical partners on the ground to assist with the most needy people and communities.
